5 BJP activists from Madanapalli, Andhra Pradesh were arrested from Hotel Nandini, RT Nagar late last night (9 May 2008). Rs. 2 lakh cash meant for distribution amongst voters has been seized from them and the 5 have been charged for inducement of voters. The Chief Electoral Officer’s (Karnataka) office has confirmed the arrests.

The BJP candidate in Hebbal constituency is Katta Subramanya Naidu. He is contesting from this constituency for the first time since his previous constitutency, Shivajinagar, was made a reserved one following the delimitation exercise.
