Karnataka Elections 2008

People’s Alliance for Democracy (Mandya unit) had organized a ‘Meet-the-candidates’ programme on 3 May 2008 at Raitha Sabhangana, Mandya.

Around 600 people, primarily slum dwellers and unorganized workers, attended the programme eager to hear the candidates’ declaration and stands on issues that concerned them. Candidates who attended the meeting were M.Srinivas (Janata Dal-Secular), HB Ramu (Congress), CM Devappa (Samajwadi Party), HC Shivram (Sarvodaya Party).

The energy throughout the programme remained high as people demanded specific policy driven answers ahead of party rhetoric and false promises from the candidates. The party manifestos stood exposed as people uncovered layer upon layer of false promises.
